Eau de toilette

Gran Canaria has changed me in many ways: I have drunk Sangria, I will now use sun-block on my legs, and I will never wear Birkenstocks straight out of the box.  But most importantly it has really turned me on to wearing a fragrance.  Before I wasn't really fussed and was happy with a bit of non-offensive deodarant.  When I would walk past someone or a group of guys their smell was quite striking but it seemed to work in the heat.  Are fragrances better suited to hot weather?  Anyway, as I was waiting in the airport I tried some Hugo Boss Energise and after wearing it on the journey home I decided I liked it.  

I found it for £25/75ml on cheapsmells.com.  A bargain and I'm just waiting for it to arrive.

I'm really enjoying these guys right now.  I downloaded the album on the balcony of my apartment in Gran Canaria before i went on a walk and it has quickly become my favorite album right now.  Only problem is: I can't get it of my iPhone and onto my itunes.  Annoying.

APC jeans

I've been having some time off from wearing jeans and I've mainly been sporting khaki chinos (Lee, Dockers, DrDenim).  There's so much baggage to take into account: brand, fit, denim type:  raw, washed, distressed, selvedge etc.  Whilst most of those things factor into chinos, it seems so much easier to get the right pair.

Finding the right pair of jeans seems like such a mission.

Having said all that jeans are good for the cold of the winter, so with a view of that I thought I should get a new pair and get them broken-in in time.  (yeeehaaar)

I've been looking a bit and half heartedly.  Popped into Le Monde, Wolverhampton and spoke to Jason.  He had a nice pair of Levi Selvedge, straight but with a taper.  But they were too big at a 32'.  After that I kinda thought, 'actually I can't be arsed looking for the perfect pair, I'll stick with chinos', but that all changed today.

I went to Ikea with my workmate Hazel, bought stuff, found £40 on the floor and went to Birmingham.
Popped into urbanoutfitters.co.uk and had a look at the APC stand and saw these bad boys:

I tried on a few pairs and found a 31/32, quite a rare size, and as I slipped into them it was like an epiphany.   Angels singing, golden streams of light and hyper-real colours.  They were PERFECT.  So now I going the painful but rewarding process of breaking them in.  It's tough work but somebody's got to do it.
